Welcome to the third edition of our new monthly newsletter "The VOICE" for Parents for Mask Free Education. We’re a collective of parents concerned about our children’s future, and our numbers are growing every day. One of our key efforts is holding provincial governments and school boards accountable for arbitrary decisions to impose mandatory masks on young children. We are fundraising to begin a legal action that targets a number of school boards in Ontario. The legal action is yet to be filed, but we hope to have more information very soon. We are also looking for volunteers for our group to help various forms of outreach. If you have any experience with the following:
We are interested in collecting video testimonials from parents whose children have experienced mental, emotional or physical harm from mask wearing. The more we can collect, the more impact our effort will have. If you are interested, please contact us and we can help you with the details. We also have several social media groups you can join, including: Parents for Mask Free Education’s Facebook group, Unmaskkids Canada – My Story, a Facebook group dedicated to sharing stories of harmful mask mandates on children, Instagram and Parents for Mask Free Education Canada’s Twitter page. We also have a downloadable flyer at the BOTTOM of the newsletter where you can print and distribute in your community to inform and raise awareness about our group’s mission. (flyer attachment below) We encourage every parent to speak out against the harms of mandatory masking on children. If your child has experienced any negative effects from wearing a mask all day, we strongly encourage you to document the details and write a letter or email to: -Your school principal -Local trustees/superintendents -Your MPPs or MLAs -Your MPs -Your province’s education Minister -Your province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health -Your Premier Parents, you can also request a Freedom of Information Request to the school boards and the health units regarding Covid measures and the decision making. This will apply pressure for clarity and accuracy. The more they hear from parents, they more influence we can have. While some of this newsletter will be dedicated to our collective efforts, we’ll also share any interesting news and studies about mask-wearing, especially for children. B.C. SCHOOLS IMPOSE MANDATORY MASKS It is now mandatory for students in middle and secondary schools across B.C. to wear non-medical masks in all indoor areas of the school, as the province expands its health and safety protocols. ONTARIO SCHOOLS RE-OPEN, MASK MANDATE EXPANDED Numerous school boards in Ontario re-opened in-class instruction this week. Unfortunately, the provincial government expanded the mandatory mask mandate for students. Children in grades 1-12 must now wear masks (in the fall, the province mandated masks for grades 4-12, despite many school boards going above and beyond provincial rules and imposing mandatory masks from kindergarten). Masks will be mandatory outside as well, a change from previous rules which allowed children to enjoy outdoor mask breaks. MY STORY: Victoria, a member of UnmaskKids – My Story writes: My school board in Sept 2020 was originally going to have kids K-3 in optional masks. A few days before school started, they made it mandatory without informing parents until last minute. My daughter has a legitimate medical exemption. Technically, she also has an accommodation aspect. I got her principal to finally sign off on an exemption letter after fighting with them for a week. The Saturday night before school started in September, my daughter's teacher called and asked me to reconsider. I said no. The Sunday before school started, they again tried to convince me. Again, I said no. The morning of the first day school, I drop her off and her teachers harassed me and pressured me into saying yes. Not only that, they threatened her into wearing one, saying that she would not be allowed to play with anyone, and that she would be on her own. I was fuming. They also had the audacity to send me photos. Also, after she wore them, she would get severe dry throat, rashes, high temperature, breathing difficulties, etc. The are also refusing to accommodate her disability. It breaks my heart every single day. She knows how unhealthy masks are. She hates them. What they did was unfair and cruel. JOIN US!
